Land Rover Repair: windshield wipers and lights, land rover freelander, windshield wipers

Question
I have a 2004 land rover freelander and my windshield wipers will not turn on.  However when i use the washer fluid function the wipers come on.
Also on my headlight switch in the full headlight position, my dash lights and tail lights will not come on.  In the running lights position everything is fine.

It sounds like the combination turn signal/lilghting switch on the steering column may have failed.  A specialist with a LR test system could read the data from the switch fairly easily.  Without such a system, you could download the wiring diagram from www.landrovertechinfo.com and then use a multimeter to manually test the switch contacts in the various positions to confirm the diagnosis.
