Land Rover Repair: 95 Disco / cranking & flooding &wont start, gas line antifreeze, combustion chamber

Question
Hi John,
I bought my 95 Disco in Aug 2006 and was very proud of it...until the problems started one after another. $4300.00 dollars later it's still parked in the yard and now cannot start. It seems to be flooding as soon as I start cranking. Outside temperature is around -20 degrees celcius. I tried taking out all plugs and drying them, and burned all excess gas in the combustion chamber with a torch. Didn't work. Checked timing belt, ignition coil, both good. Rotor is turning when cranking. I got brand new wires, plugs, distributor cap and rotor. I put gas line antifreeze in my gas. HELP! What else can I check?

Answer
If I am reading you right, you have fuel, and you have spark.  Do you have compression?

I'm guessing that your problem is more subtle - possible mixture way off.  There is a step by step guide to troubleshoot the fuel injection for your truck in the factory workshop manual.  I suggest you buy the manual and do the tests.  All you'll need are a meter and hand tools.

If you don't have a factory manual call AB at 800 533 2210 or RN at 802 879 0032 to buy one.
