Land Rover Repair: disco 2 abs / traction / descent help! 1999, t4 test, brake pads

Question
I am stuck on this one, everyone says put a new hub on this car, to make the 1999 disco abs/traction control and descent lights go out! what a stupid way forward? there must be a lot of enquiries about this problem, can you help please?
I have been told that cheap brake pads could be at fault? I usually diagnose a fault before replacing parts, is there any expert on your site that can help with this?   or do i have to replace everything at my expense until the problem is cured?  thank you

Answer
First, there are a number of tests one can do with the Land Rover T4 test system, so repair of a tested car is not a guess.  Find a shop with proper equipment to check it out.

Second, there are some faults where you can't distinguish between a problem in the reluctor ring (the thing that generates the signal) and the sensor (the thing that reads the signal)

In those cases, the complete hub contains both parts.

Cheap brake pads can cause vibrations that result in ABS faults
