Land Rover Repair: Radio code, land rover discovery, radio code

Question
Bought a 1997 Land Rover Discovery a month and a half ago. Radio says code. Took to the dealership, they took the radio out and reset it, put it back in, tried 2 codes...nothing. Gave me a number to call, I called the number, they gave me a code identical to one of the two the dealer tried...still nothing. Please tell me I am not going to have to purchase another radio and 6 disc cd changer to replace one that "looks" perfectly fine.

Answer
It sounds like the dealer has gotten the code Land ROver has on file for your truck, and they also removed the radio and looked up the code by the radio's serial number.  Is that right?

Did they explain that the truck needed to sit, key and radio on, for 1.5 hours before you try and enter the code?

One final trick would be to remove the radio from the car, let it sit unplugged for 3-4 hours, then refit it and let it sit turned on for 1.5 hours, then try the codes.

If you did that, and had no success, you will need a new radio or you'll need to send yours for repair.

I have seen a few fail in the manner you describe.
