Land Rover Repair: Oil Seal Failure, seal failure, less than three months

Question
I have a 2001 Discovery II that has 41,000 miles.  The dealer told
me the engine needed a complete oil re-seal.  I decided that
$4,200 was far to much to put into the vehicle and suggested i
trade it in (the lease had just ended).  But the deal didn't seem to
want the car..

Finally,  I had the intake manafold re-sealed,  $1,500 and then had
the dealer do more work on the oil leak (2,600)  and now less than
three months after all this,  the dealer says the intake manafold
needs to be re-sealed,  again.  1,200.    What should i do?  is this a
resonable failure for a vehicle of this age?

Answer
Why does the dealer think you should pay to reseal the intake twice in such a short time?  I would not expect to pay to have the same job doen over again.

Leaks like that are, sadly, common on the 01 Discovery motors.

They are usually irritating, as opposed to dangerous.  So many people just elect to live with the leaks.
