Land Rover Repair: Sudden strange electrical issues, british sense of humor, fog lights

Question
Hi Attila

Ok...so I am camping up in Boundary Waters, MN by the CA/US border. Everything was fine the day before. Locked the 00 DiscoII for the night. In the morning, the FOB would not open the doors. So I used the key to open the driver door, but the dashboard door switch would not unlock the doors.

After checking all the fuses, I decided to manually open all the doors. Then unplug the battery (both in the FOB and the car) for a minute to see if something needed to be reset. Nothing worked.

Car started fine, but when I tried to put it in drive, it was locked. I checked the brake switch and it seemed like the brake pedal was not pushing the plunger in. This was confirmed when I noticed the brake lights were always on. So theoretically the gear lock should not be engaged.

Then I notice that only the back two windows would not lower, the front/back fog lights would not work and the turn signals blinked in the dash, but did not light or blink outside. All other things worked such as lights, radio, AC, Cruise, wiper, seats, front windows, sunroof, gas door, etc. I was able to get it into drive by manually pushing in the pin that locks it under the console.

So.....does anyone know what the heck might have caused this sudden problem?

*The FOB will engage the alarm system, but not lock the doors.
*Door switch does not work.
*Gear lock does not disengage without manually pushing the pin in.
*Turn signals do not work
*Rear windows do not work
*Brake pedal does not seem to come all the way up to press the brake switch in. I used duct tape on the brake pedal arm to make up for this to get home. Is the Brake Switch plunger not coming all the way out, or the pedal not coming all the way up? It seems fine to me.  Why would that suddenly occur along with everything else?

I would hate to spend $$$$$ in labor for a dumb $20 sensor part that controls all this if I can do it myself. Please help cause this is British sense of humor crazy : )

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

Answer
Huh It's hard problem.
So, first the brake pedals plunger can pull out hardly. Not problem if you pulled too much be couse it will go back as needed.

So the other problems, I think causing by IDM (Intelligent Driver Module, which is located on the fuse box (inner) back side. It a power amplifier module with lot of functions.

So maybe the problem is the wrong communication between the Body Control Unit and the IDM (beCause all the signals ran into the BCU), or the IDM probably faulty (very very rarely).
So I think take off the inner fuse box and check all the fuses, and all of the connections!

You can try to bridge the indicator's relay or door lock relays. If they works then they didn't got the control sign from the IDM.
