HELLO. I OWN A SMALL SHOP IN JACKSON MISSISSIPPI.I PRIMARALY WORK ON GM CARS AND TRUCKS.I HAVE A 2000 LANDROVER DISCOVERY II in the shop i have tried thee differant scanners on the ecm and all will not communacate the the ecm it has error code(check connection and try again)also the engine has no power and real slow acceleration the catalyst converters are ok and the fuel pump was replaced at another shop.could you please advise me on this it has a 4.0 liter v-8 and 93.000 miles showing.check engine light is on and tcc light is on also abs lightis on .it back fires thru the intake if you mash on the gas hard,this is the last stop for this customer they have been reiped off at other shops.can you please advise me on what to do.i may could fix it if i could get it to communacate with a scanner.my e-mail is mastertalllN@aol.com or if you can call me and i will get youre phone number and call you right back.ask for allan kane thank you in advance allan k. 601 238-0464.

Theoretically it can be diagnosed (at least DTC readings) with an EOBD-2 compliant tester. But I didn't tried yet, because we have an original Land-Rover testing equipment.

It is very hard to find out the problem without interrogate with the ecm. 90% it will be sensor problem, but rarely we had seen more than one times ran-down camsafts, which caused  problems like that.

The best way to go in a LR worksop to read the fault codes. But don't be sure the readings will be the solution! It can be misinformed.
