Land Rover Repair: 2000 Disco II - lots of little questions, climate control system, vacuum hoses

Question
Hi John,
I've been following this site for a while, thanks for all of the great input and insight you (and the other John and Attila) provide.
I've got a few questions regarding my 2000 Disco II purchased a few months ago with 120K+ miles (relatively trouble free since mass air replacement to get rid of SES fault - my Three Amigos went away at the same time somehow)...
1)  The windscreen has a couple chips (prior to purchase so not covered by insurance) that are a slight eyesore and that keep the heated windscreen from functioning.  If I decide to replace it, would it be best to go to LR or can an independent glass shop do it right?  Any idea on cost (with or without heated glass, if available)?
2)  The front dome light comes on when the doors are unlocked via remote or the doors are opened, but it will not function while in the vehicle via the switch.  Any ideas?
3)  Cruise doesn't work.  The light comes on when the switch is depressed, I know that vacuum hoses are the usual culprit, but the wheel-mounted controls don't seem to have the same tactile response as the radio controls on the other side.  Could the control itself be bad?  Can I remove it for diagnostic?  How?
4)  The light on the passenger side temperature adjustment toggle for the climate control system went out... a very minor issue, but I'm picky.  Can a single LED (or bulb or whatever they use) be replaced?  How?
5)  What are your thoughts on engine treatments such as Lucas Oil?  I know they only treat injectors, not exhaust valves that LR's have issues with, but are there other concerns with usage of such products?
I think I've bombarded you with enough for now.  Sorry if any questions have been answered before... I did do research beforehand but didn't find anything relevand.  Thanks so much for your time and expertise!
Mark

Any competent glass hsop can do this job.  As to cost, in most states chips are covered by comprehensive insurance, so it may be free.  If you have to pay, expect something around $500

You probably need a new dome light unit.

We use the Land Rover test system to check the switches.  That way, we don't take anything apart.

Vacuum lines or a brake switch  or the vacuum dump switch are still the most likely culprits.

Removal of the panel is fairly complex.  If you want to do it I suggest you pay the $18 for a day's access to the landrovertechinfo web site and print the instructions.

Individual bulbs can be swapped.  It takes our techs 1-2 hours to do so, start to finish

Use Mobil 1 0-40 oil in the motor.  Put a big can of Chevron Techron (the $18 can, not the cheap stuff from Wal Mart) every oil change.
