Land Rover Repair: crank fault, crank sensor, obd ii

Question
My 2000 Disco II was in the shop for low fuel pressure (engine would die when going uphill with low fuel tank). They changed the fuel pump, then engine would not start (crank fault).  They changed the crank sensor and engine would still not start. There are no other faults showing.  Any ideas?

Answer
There are two possibilities:

1 - The shop is incompetent or inept, and they broke or unplugged something.  It could be anything.

2 - The shop is competent, but when they unhooked the battery to swap the pump there was an electrical glitch and synchronization between alarm controller and engine controller was lost.

So now the car won't start.

If that is the case, you will need to find someone with the specialist LR test system - Autologic or T4 - who can re synchronize the systems.  Generic OBD II scan tools cannot synchronize the systems.

You may be in for a tow if that's the case.
