Land Rover Repair: 1995 300 TDi injectors and R380 box, nelspruit south africa, shaft bearings

Question
Dear John

My defender has 240k, km on it and has recently started blowing much more black smoke when lugging, what are the procedures to service these "one piece" bosch injectors such as cleaning and recalibration etc. (pump timing, air cleaner etc, all clean, although I have not checked the turbo boost pressure recently, but plenty power still.)Also, I have just repaired the LT 230 box Intermediate shaft bearings (no comment on the reason for failure ;-))in order to cure the gearbox whine on deceleration, this repair improved the situation somewhat but the box still whines on deceleration in all gears but 4th, which is a straight thru drive, will main box bearings need to be replaced or just re-shimmed to get correct end float? Also, diesel lift pump hand lever does not develop resistance, luckily I have never run out of fuel and needed to bleed the fuel system.

I have plenty more questions, but this is it for now,

Regards

Answer
In the USA, the Bosch Company has service centers that handle injector problems.

I can't comment on your gear noise without hearing it.

The diesel hand lift pump on my Rover does not develop much resistance either, I'd have to feel yours to tell if its notmal.
