Land Rover Repair: Drove through high water, obd ii scan tool, land rover discovery

Question
Hello, I drove my 2003 Land Rover Discovery through very high water recently and two days later the car is knocking.  It seems to stop when I push the gas but when I let off of the gas or push the brakes, it starts shaking like it wants to stall.  Also, the service engine light soon is on.  Pleas help! What could it be?

Answer
You have probably gotten water into one or more connectors in the engine and transmission harness.  I suggest pulling them apart and blowing out with compressed air, then packing with dielectric grease and reassembling.  I would get an obd ii scan tool and read and clear any stored codes, and reset the adaptations.

You may not be able to reset the adaptations without the specialized LAnd Rover tools, such as T4 or Autologic.  That's an important step, so you may need to seek out a Land Rover specialist.

Pay particular attention to the cam and crank sensor connections under the car, as well as the plugs on the gearbox
