Lincoln/Mercury Repair: 94 Lincoln TownCar -acces to AC controls, lincoln towncar, chilton manual

Question
Eddie,

Please recommend a source of information. I've got to get access to the AirCondition controls under the dashboard. The Chilton manual has some daunting information on removing the Instrument Panel, but provides no refernce(s) to the guts behind the AC buttons.

I get no hot air. Indicator lights indicate change of status pressing the button and winds are responsive - but no heat.

There is a repetitive click/clack in there. Does that for a few minutes then stops. Only way to stop it otherwise is to turn the IGN key off. A DC motor trying to control something?

I understand your not indicating mastery of this subject but in your 20 years perhaps you have gained some wisdom for me on this subject?

Any help rendered will be appreciated.

Pete

Answer
Pete,
I normally don’t answer questions unless I have direct experience in the matter. Theres a big difference in doing an actual a/c repair and doing the electronics associated with it. From the sounds of it, its either the motor that turns the blend air door or the door itself. I would recommend going to www.lincolnsonline.com or one of the other forums. Either look around or do a search and I'm sure you'll find detailed instructions on this repair.
