Lincoln/Mercury Repair: Ford F150 Heater Control, ford f150, control dial

Question
My question is about a 1999 F150, I hope you can help.  My heater control dial will not adjust the temperature.  It sticks in one place, in the past after twisting the dial back and forth I could get it to move.  Now it will not move.  If it I turn it, it wants to snap back into its original position like its not moving what's behind it.  I took it to the dealer and they told me I would have to replace the heater core.  Is there another way to fix
it.

I have a friend who's 1999 Expedition has the same problem.

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Dave,

The dealer told you that? Well, don't go back there and warn your friends! Sheesh... Replace the control assembly instead to fix this issue. I have a pretty good set of pics for you to DIY. If you want, I could email them to you. It's all electronic. The controls send a signal to the blend door to change the heat setting. Heater core... sheesh. Have a great Holiday!

Part number 2L3Z19980BA for about $33. Book time says about .6 of an hour or two glasses of spiked egg nog! ;)
