when first starting a 93 cougar it idles extremly rough but once moving it does fine but at first it shakes the car. i checked the idle control valve and it reads 11.4 ohms so it should be good. any ideas ? it has a 3.8 fi

Does it idle fine warm? yes but it may start idleing rough when i stop at a light. but not every time.

Ah, ok, this is a sensor problem as I suspected. Problem with todays cars is they are fully electronic/computer controlled. The software in this medium does not save the original question, I may have asked if the check engine light was on. If it is, this will tell us which sensor we need to replace. Though it seems tougher to repair todays cars, the Diagnostic Trouble Codes that are stored in the computer make it a breeze. We just need to retreive them. I suggest taking your car to a shop that can scan the computer for codes. Cottman Transmission will do this for free. Once you have the code numbers, resubmit to me these and I will help you repair this.
