Lincoln/Mercury Repair: 1978 Mercury Marquis V8 351/modified400, mercury marquis, transportation source

Question
Pete,
I have a 1978 Mercury Marquis, V8; 351/Modified 400. I have a problem with loosing power... car completely stalling out (dying) while driving. So far, we have changed the fuel filter because there was a cracked connection, changed the coil and the electronic ignition module. Still having the same problem, my car just dies while driving even a short distance. Also, right before this started the fuel guage stopped working, I don't know if that has anything to do with this situation. The alternator was changed approximately one year ago. Do you have any ideas that I can look into. I'm a single Mom and need help because this is my only transportation source. Thanks so much in advance for any assistance or advice that you can give me.
Respectfully,
Joanne Victoria
