Mazda Repair: MAzdaq 1994 not starting, coil pack, crankshaft

Question
Yesterday, the car had to be cranked several times before starting -
very unusual. The same evening, it started fine but stalled and then
refuses to start. Engine just cranks over - no coughing, spluttering, no
firing at all. Checked the coil pack. Found one spark plug lead corroded
and damaged at the coil output end (at the other end of the wire that
connects to the plug. One would expect the car to start even with one
cylinder not firing but it does not.
Took the coil out, cleaned checked resitance (10Kohms between plugs on HV side on both coils, and reconnected but still no spark from any of the coil outputs.
Any other reasons for not firing at all? Appreciate your input to get the
problem fixed.

Thanks,

Sunil

Answer
Well, seems that it is in need of a diagnostic scan. That will determine if the car is not getting a crankshaft signal or the signal is not getting processed by the ignition module. This is not expensive and is typically around $75 and takes around an hour.
