Mazda Repair: Rear Sway Bar Links, sway bar links, rear sway bar

Question
I need to replace the rear sway bar links on my 94 Mazda 626...can you please advise of the process for doing this, as it seems to be a fairly simple procedure?

Answer
Hi Alan Thanks for asking.
It is simple to replace those Links,, If you have the right tools. The way I replace thm all the time is I cut the nuts off with a torch then knock the links out of the sway bar when i have cut it flush with the sway bar. But if you do not have a torch they usually put up a big fight coming out. There are two other ways to pull these out, some times there is an allen key hole at the top of the stud where the nut is, use the proper sized allen key and a 14 mm wrench to remove it. another way is to use a pair of vise grips and try to clamp the back side where the joint is and use a 14mm socket and ratchet to undo it that way, The problem is alot of the times these seize together,, It all depends on the condition of the underside of the vehicle, Intstalling the new ones are a peice of cake when you get the old ones off. Make sure you get new nuts when you pay for the links. And try to get the mazda links the after market links never last long..
Good luck
