Mercedes Benz repair: power steering leak/other, power steering fluid, tensioner pulley

Question
QUESTION: Hello,I have a 1990 mercedes 190e 2.6 w/220k last night a sudden/substantial leak of power steering fluid half of the fluid was all under the hood no noise from the pump maybe a hose? also I need to change the serpentine belt, also the driver side door lock sometimes causes my alarm to go off can I disable the alarm and keep central locking working, lastly the flex disc replacement. any advice greatly appreciated! thanks greg

ANSWER: first off take care of the leak as far as the pump look at the lines that go to the pump check the hoses obvoiusly as far as under the hood where is the leak if it is in the front right then it is the leak towards the pump not away.Dont misplace power steering fluid from brake fluid...as far as the serpentine belt it should be pretty self explanatorythere should be a tensioner pulley on it take a crowbar and pry towards passenger side while pressing down on it I would mark the alternator position though also and loosen it up..then pop out the belt pretty easy.. the door alarm may be caused by a bad vacuum in your locking pump best advise is just disable the alarm until you figure out the central lock system and your flex disk is pretty straight foward go to benzworld.org and put in your profile I am panzerbenzer there are alot of 190e fanatics out there..including myself that can help get your problems straightened out

QUESTION: hello, thanks for your help I fixed the leak it was trans cooling line,I would like more info on the alarm problem it only effects the driver side door the central locking works fine,I wanted to know how to disable the alarm, will my central locking still work if the I disable the alarm?  thanks greg...

ANSWER: then it would be your plunger on your drivers side door that needs to be replaced it is pretty straightforward once you take the door off you would need to check the lines going to theat door i/e knob you could also try putting some wd 40 in it and make sure the knob goes up and down freely..I would suggest not disabling your alarm if it is a factory direct alarm.

QUESTION: Hello, I'm going to change the the serpentine belt this weekend the pensioner was replaced with the last belt replacement by a mechanic. Do I need to loosen the tensioner/shock or can I just push it toward passenger side to remove belt? thanks greg..

Answer
you can try to remove it but I always found it real difficult like a liitle too tight usually cuz I am old school I just loosen up the alternator also but that is of course after I mark the points. You can try though but I like to make things a little easier specially on working on cars .,..
