Mercedes Benz repair: transmission modulator, mercedes benz 300e, mercedes benz

I want to know where is the transmission modulator located on a 1987 Mercedes Benz 300E? My car is having problems shifting out. Is the transmission modulator located on the outside of the transmission?

The modulator is on the side of the transmission. On the left side if i remember correctly. you can identify it by finding the shifter linkage at the transmission. it is just to the front of the linkage arm and has a little rubber boot in the center of it. It also has a little t -handle that slides out and is adjutable by turning the handle to left or right. if your transmission is shifting hard then you want to turn it counterclockwise to loosen and turn to the right for harder shifts.
 You also want to check the passing gear on the top of the engine , underneath your breather. You can also adjust this by turning the threaded housing . If your car is shifting too earllly then you want to turn this counterclockwise to hold it in that gear longer. And just the opposite if its shifting to late.Thanks and i hope this helps. Ricky
