Mercedes Benz repair: 2000 C230 Mercedes Benz, c230 mercedes benz, fuse box

Question
QUESTION: This car has been garaged for the winter months (as in the Past). Now the weather is getting so I will drive the car--- I can't. The apparent lock-out program is preventing me from not only starting the car but keeping me from entering the trunk to check or charge the battery.  The manual key will not open the trunk and everything is shut down. The batteries are apparently okay in the electronic key system as the red indicator light flashes when pressing a command. What do I do short of calling a tow truck (if that is even possible)to operate my car?  This is a first for me, as I have owned MB Jags and MGB's in the past!!!

ANSWER:  Question for you. You state that the blade does not open the trunk (correct). But does it open the door?

QUESTION: The doors were not locked in the garage so they are open and unlocked. I can get  in the car but the electronic key won't turn in the ignition or any other elctronic device will work! Could the battery be dead causing this? If so how do I get at it if the trunk won't open? Can you jump the car from the engine anywhere?  Thank you for responding.

Answer
The car battery is Dead. The drops in temperature have affected it.
Ok here is how you open the trunk to access the batter.
Buy a new battery. Connect a jumper to that battery. the other end of that jumper goes to the car. Now open the hood. on the drivers side under the hood you will find a bronze stud or a nut where brown cables are connected to (brown is a ground ) that is where your black cable goes to. Then you will power up with a thin wire attached to the read cable on of the fuses in the fuse box in front of you . Have someone put the key in and see if it turns. Then you and either open it with the button in the center console or with your infared remote (that is if the battery on that still works. there is a red LED on the key that will illuminate if the batteries are good
