I have a 1996 S600 and when I'm at a traffic light I'll press the accelerator all the way to the floor for a quick takeoff and the car does not accelerate like it should. The RPM's rev up to to about 40 50 rpm and then it shifts in to gear but it still doesn't take off like it should. Could you tell me what the problem may be?? I took it to AAMCO people to have the Trans checked and they said the Trans was fine. I've had the Trans flushed and I've also used the BG power enhancer product and I've had a fuel induction service. But the car is still driving the same.

Actually, there are quite a few different things that could be causing an accelerating problem. My best advice would be to take it to the dealership and let one of us take a look at it in person.

Answer
Honestly, I would have to look at it in person. I don't want to start throwing out ideas and send you off in the wrong direction or anything. I will tell you the first things that I would inspect. Since you are not describing any noises, idling problems, exhaust smoke, or check engine lights....I would check the shifting settings in the transmission control module through the MB diagnostic computer. Secondly, I would check the throttle position sensor, idle air sensor, and mass airflow sensor.

Like I said, there are quite a few things that could contribute to this problem and I am really suprised that the MB dealership told you what they told you. I think I would find someone else.
