MG Car Repair: Stuck Distributor, auto transmission fluid, typical storage

Question
Howard
You've helped several times and I hope there is still some water left in the well.  I'm working on my 1980 US spec. MGB that I've owned since 1984.  My son and I recently re-awakened the car and it is doing well after correcting some typical storage issues.  The car runs well but the timing is a few degrees off so I went to adjust the distributor by loosening the clamp and the distributor body will not budge.  I've tried bare hands and a strap wrench but cannot get it to move.  I tried using PB Blaster at the base and letting it sit for a few days.  No dice.  I read on another site where someone recommended a homemade solvent solution of auto transmission fluid and muratic acid in a 50/50 mix.  Again tried that over several days and no-go.
The distributor is good and functional and I'd hate to have to take it out in pieces as a solution.
Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Dave,

The distributor clamp is a separate piece and it is held to a third piece that is in the block. First remove the two small bolts holding the clamp to the sleeve in the block and see if you can move it. If not, remove the long pinch bolt and with a pry bar or large screw driver spread the clamp so you can rotate it and look for the lager Phllips head screw and possibly remove it from the sleeve and and then see if you can rotate the distributor and remove it with the sleeve form the block.

If you can remove the distributor and the sleeve it is stuck in, you may be able to then apply heat to the sleeve to break it loose from the distributor.
