Answer
Hi Cylis,
You need either a timing light or you can set the timing static using a 12v test light. First look under the hood for the timing specs as the specs under the hood over ride any quotes in the manuals. With a timing light you just clip the pick up on #1 plug wire and start the engine and put the light on the front pulley and read the timing at the pointer on the front cover. If it is off just loosen the pinch bolt on the distributor and rotate to correct.

Timing with a test light (static) is done by attaching the test light to the (-) side of the coil and remove the spark plugs and put all the plugs on the wires and lay the plugs on a metal part of the engine. Then turn the key on (not start) and put the car in 4th gear with the hand brake off. Role the car forward while you put your thumb over the #1 plug hole until you feel compression and then watch the test light as you role the car very slowly forward, the light should be out and the very point that the light comes on stop and look at the timing mark on the front pulley to see if the correct timing is at the pointer. (specs under the hood)
