Nissan Repair: 91 terrano transmission problem, torque converter, transmission problem

Hi Von, my auto in my terrano is playing up, when i press the accelerator down to kickdown into a lower speed it doesnt change and goes in to 'neutral' and just revs out, but will kick back into gear when accelerator is released. ive been playing round with the throttle position reader on top of the lift pump to change the gear change time, but i think it was doing it previously.

Sounds like the solenoid, kickdown, is failed and needs to be replaced.  If you have a Nissan shop that has a transmission scanner you will know for sure so you do not purchase the part if not needed.  The detent for kickdown not only unlocks the torque converter and shifts it down a gear it also applies full pump pressure to the clutch pack.  My bet is it is the solenoid.
