Military Vehicle Repair: CUCV, intake manifold gasket, side muffler

Question
QUESTION: My 84 M1009 blows out about 16 oz. of water out the right exaust when started. It starts and runs fine with no more water out the exhaust. Is it a head gasket or cracked head problem? Or? No water in the oil, no bubbles in the radiator fill. Thanks.

ANSWER: Very likely it is the intake manifold gasket.

QUESTION: Hi again, M1009 blows water out right exhaust upon starting. You suggested intake manifold leak. Radiator holds  pressure overnight and no exhaust gasses show up in coolant. Any suggestions before taking things apart? Engine does not miss and it takes about a week for water to build up in exhaust. Thanks

Answer
Hi Bill,
Didn't think of this before, but if you never need to add coolant, and there is no sign of antifreeze in that water exhausted, it is very likely that it is just condensation forming inside the muffler.
See if the left side muffler might not have a little drain hole, allowing condensation to drip out of it, or a rusty stain at a joint in the muffler/pipe.
