Mitsubishi Repair: timing belt broke, interference engines, mitsubishi engines

Question
my timing belt broke while traveling at approx 100 kms will this have done much damage

Answer
Ray,
Mitsubishi engines are interference engines.  This means that cylinders and valves share the same space, but never touch each other when the timing belt is properly set.  When a timing belt breaks, the timing gets thrown and its almost inevitable that your cylinders will end up smacking into the valves; causing damage.  As to how much damage was caused, that would need to be determined by your mechanic.  Usually a cylinder head rebuild would be involved.
Good luck!
