Mitsubishi Repair: Speakers quit working, ving rhame, eclipse gs

i own a 2002 Eclipse GS which ive equipped with a flip screen DVD player. Now i know its illegal to drive with a movie playing but i was driving and had a passenger watching mission impossible 3 and all of a sudden the subtitles were still saying words but all you could hear was the bass in ving rhame's voice through the subwoofers. no speakers no nothing but if i flipped the switch on the amplifier from low pass to high pass then you can hear the audio through the subs (sounds bad though) any idea why the speakers would stop working?

Is it a stock amp? If so it could be the security. Other then that I would start looking over all your wires from your radio to your amo to your sub. Are you speakers in your car hooked up to a amp too? If so then look at that. I know a little about systems but not much hope this helps thanks kevin.
