Mitsubishi Repair: 91 Mitsubishi Lancer GLX, mitsubishi lancer, new spark

Question
I have a 1991 Mitsubishi Lancer GLX. We had the distributor cap replaced, new spark plugs and wires put in last year and it was running fine. Vehicle was laid up for 2 months and now it will start, but will not run properly I pushed the pedal to the floor but it just cuts off after a while

Answer
Grace: I would have the car coded to see what the computer might print out as to a problem with that. Or I would have the fuel pump tested to make sure it is putting out enough fuel. It would be one or the other, as long as it will start, but as you push the pedal to the floor it cuts out. It sounds like the engine is not getting enough fuel but again the computer controls every in the engine. So either the computer is not giving the engine enough fuel or the pump is not putting out enough. So see you need to have both tested. Any shop should be able to code the computer and test that fuel pump. Ask to see the print out from the computer and ask how much fuel pressure the pump is putting out. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
