Mitsubishi Repair: 94 Eclipse 1.8L Manual FWD, vacuum leak, new spark

Question
Hello- car started losing power while driving. Then one day it starts fine, I drive it down the road and it dies. The car will not start until I put new spark plugs in. Starts, then when I give it gas it dies immediately. Car has fluids, plenty of fire, plenty of gas, perfect engine compression, had a speed idler replaced 20k ago, new alternator (because it died right before all this started happening). I bought a distributor from junk yard. Just changed the ECU/ECM unit the old one didn't even look burnt. Timing is dead on. Relays are fine.

OK the SPARK PLUGS are getting FLOODED with Gas. We took the injectors out (which are getting plenty of power) and we would just hit the engine one click of the key, burst of gas. Looks Good. We thought they would drip gas but they didn't. Engine is trying to start but just won't turn over. Really confused on this one. I hope all of this makes some kind of since.
Thanks-

Answer
Joey: You need to buy a new distributor not from a junk yard, please. In that distributor is a sensor what has to be right for your car. I would try to find some place to code your car, though you replaced the computer, you did get the right one for your car? Right. I have had people write me, that just went out to the junk yard and bought a computer that was kind of like what they should be using. It has to be the right computer for your car, model and year. Was the computer you bought new? Or from a junked car, and again I understand about the cost of new parts and all. But still if you don't do right by your car, she will not do right by you. I would also check to see if you might have a vacuum leak someplace. But you say the plugs are getting fuel, are they putting out a good stark? It takes three things for a car to go down the road; air, stark and fuel. You got one of the three. If you have a vacuum leak, the car would either be getting to much air or not enough in the places it needs that in. But also by coding the car, you would find out if you might have a weak or bad sensor/s someplace. The computer is only as good as all the sensors through out that engine. With 220,000 miles on the Silver Bullet she might have some sensors out. So try these ideas and do keep me posted. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
