Mitsubishi Repair: oil sending switch 2000 galant 4 cyl, weight oil, oil sending unit

Question
my car seems to run very well but recently I've been getting a flickering on the oil gage. I've checked the oil levels and it is good. my boy friend said that it might be the oil sending unit any suggestions

Answer
Michele: Your boyfriend might be right, but first what kind of oil do you have in your car? Did you just get an oil change? Most places now days put in 5W30 weight oil in cars. Some cars handle this ok, others does not. So try putting in a heavier weight oil with the next change, like 10W30 weight. You will have to put your foot down at the shop you go to, and say "Yes, I want 10W30 weight", either explain you want to see if that fixes your oil light or else just tell them to put in that weight of oil. And let it go, make sure they put in that 10W30 weight or else get your boyfriend to change the oil with that weight. See if that helps at all. If not, then it could be your sending unit. But try the heavier weight oil first, just to see how that works. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
