Mitsubishi Repair: 2001 Mits Montero Limited Gurgling Sound, gas gauge, full tank

Question
Hello Linda, it all started after an off-road trip where I got stuck in mud, since then, my center dash mounted LCD display does not show the correct milage for the amount of gas, it never shows more than 30 miles available, even with a full tank.  (However my regular gas gauge works fine).  Also my gas cap area Gurgles very loudly at idle, very embarassing.  Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks, Mark

Answer
Mark: I got to say I have never heard of anything like this before, I would say with the LCD display not showing the correct mileage for the amount of gas, well my thoughts there would be a bad sensor there. Or you could have knocked a wire off that display when you got stuck. Maybe you got that display wet and it shorted its self out. As for the gas cap area, have you thought of changing well buying a new gas cap for your car? It would be the cap is letting to much air into the system and so the car is trying to fix that problem so the loud gurgles at idle. Or maybe the car is telling you to watch getting stuck in the mud on those off-road trip... :o) oh just kidding there. I wish I could be more help for you. Sometimes these things turn out from getting stuck and say rocking the car trying to get out. Or hitting a bump to hard and you knock something loose. I do hope this helps you out some though and good luck! Linda
