Mitsubishi Repair: please help me im begging you, throttle position sensor, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1997 Mitsubishi eclipse gst.  Ok ill try to go over everything with my car.  I bought the car as is and i didn't know what i was getting into.  the guy who sold it to me took advantage of me because I'm in the military ( it happens alot in Virginia beach)  Right now the car is leaking antifreeze just a little bit but running good so i put some leak stop for coolant in it (those little pebble looking things that are supposed to clog leaks), than i put a new blow off valve in it.  I went out driving after those two adjustments and the car ran weird. It was almost like it didn't have enough power.  Like the idle is up at 1500 rpm when you first start the car.  Than when i start driving even if i step on it, i have to put it into second at like 15 mph and than 3rd at shortly after that.  It wont let me even get to 30 mph. I changed back to the stock blow off valve and it still did the same thing.   When it is in first going to the next gear it has the RPM high.  It is really weird.  I wish i could explain it better.  It feels like there is no power to get up there and go.  Please help me, if you have any other questions that may help me to fix it i would be glad to answer them, thank you so much
ANSWER: Alex: Sorry that someone was not fair with you when they sold you the car. Got an AutoZone close by? I would have the car coded, sounds like a sensor or more is weak or bad. Or maybe your computer is not reading things right. You know the computer reads all those sensors and then in the matter of seconds sets how the engine should run. You know don't you that Mitsubishi farmed out the building of their computers to another company and that company did not build very good ones? A piece in the computer will start to leak and with time kills off the computer. Coding the car would then rule out any problems with either the computer or the sensors. I was thinking that maybe your Throttle position sensor might be weak and so the computer is not reading it right. Also your oxygen sensor could be weak too. I think the 1997 model has two of those. If you are changing things in the engine and the computer is not reading things right; the car would act weird. Remember now it takes three things for the car to go down the road, air, fuel and stark. When is the last time you did a good tune up on this car? Stark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor? There is a sensor in the distributor cap it is called the crank angle sensor. I hope this helps you and if you have anymore question do write again. Good luck! Linda :o)

QUESTION: Thank you soooo much. That fixed the problem, but now a new one.  I drove the car today and it was good, than i came outside after letting it sit for 10 hours and the clutch pedal need to be pushed almost all the way to the floor to be able to shift gears.  Then it wouldn't come back all the way to normal position.  What could be the problem there? If you have any suggestions i would be grateful of that. Thank you very very much

Answer
Alex: I would say you have a hydraulic leak someplace as the clutch in that car is a hydraulic run clutch. My repair manual says this... or things that could be wrong.. master or release cylinder faulty, hose/pipe burst or leaking(this is the one I would go with that you have a leaking hose), connections leaking, no fluid in reservoir(you can check the fluid level in that reservoir as it is up on the firewall, see if you are losing fluid), if the fluid in reservoir rises as pedal is depressed, master cylinder center valve seal is faulty, if there is fluid on the dust seal at the master cylinder, the piston primary seal is leaking, broken release bearing or fork, fluid in the area of master cylinder dust cover and on the pedal.. rear seal failure in the master cylinder, fluid on the release cylinder, release cylinder piston seal faulty, pedal feels spongy when depressed, air in system, bleed system. But look I think you have a hose or a pipe or maybe a connections leaking. You must get that fixed, other wise whatever is leaking will let go and then your clutch will not work at all. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda :o)
