Mitsubishi Repair: egr light-shut off?, mitsubishi mighty max, mile intervals

Hi,thr egr light came on as I passed 100,000 miles on my 1987 Mitsubishi mighty max truck as it should at 50,000 mile intervals.How and where do I shut it off?  thanks

Dave: It could be just because the truck passed that mile mark or it could be because the computer has picked up something weak or bad in the system. Got an AutoZone close by? They will code your truck for free and that would rule out any problem with sensors or the computer. And they would be able to reset the computer too. Which would shut the light off. It is always better safe than sorry, I think. You could try to reset it yourself to see if that would fix the problem. Just remove the neg. cable off the battery for 5 minutes and then put it back on. That should reset the system. As long as there is nothing else wrong. If the light does not go out, you need to have your truck coded to see what sensor(s) are weak or bad. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda :o)
