Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsubishi Endeavor Cruise Control, cruise control system, mitsubishi endeavor

Question
QUESTION: It woks sporatically. When you puse the button , it lights up on the dash, but you can't engage it. It works about 3 days a week as it should. Have replaced the switch on the steering column, no effect. It works great the day you have scheduled to have it repaired by the dealer. Help..
ANSWER: Clayton: I would say you have a small vacuum leak and that is why sometimes it works but other times does not. But because of the complexity of the cruise control system and the special tools and techniques required for diagnosis and repair, this should be left to a dealer or a shop. That line came out of my repair manual, yet to find a vacuum leak is pretty hard at times. So I would take your car to a shop and let them find the hose that is leaking. I hope this helps and good luck! Linda

QUESTION: Why would it work some day's and not others with a vacuum leak. It would seem to not have enough vacuum to work at all if this were the case.  However, it's worth checking out.  Thanks

Answer
Clayton: That would be the 64 thousand dollar question. I mean is right hard for me to answer some of these questions. I pulled that right out of my Mitsubishi repair manual. All it is, is a guess on my part. A thought to try, a vacuum hose maybe not a leak but rather a hose loose someplace. In that say the weather, temp, where you park your car, it could be about anything. I have been working on cars for a lot of years and have seen a lot of things what, when you find the problem. You stand back, look around to see if someone is trying to play a trick on you; add it up to odd things happening then go on with life. It might not be the vacuum hose, but still getting it into a shop they should be able to find the problem. I do hope that this might have helped you a bit. I only want to help people keep their cars going down the road or to get them working to do that. I do hope this somehow helps you and good luck! Linda :o)
