Mitsubishi Repair: 99 Mirage Difficult to Start; Dies if Slow/Stopping, mechanic shop, older cars

Question
Over the past couple of days, I've noticed that when I try to start my '99 Mitsu Mirage, I have a lot of difficulty getting it to start going so far as to have to pump the accelerator and, once it does turn over, I have to rev the engine quite a bit to be sure it gets enough gas to let me shift gears and get it going. Then, once I start to slow down, like at a stop sign or traffic light, it will die if I don't keep constantly on the accelerator.  My cousin is a mechanic and he says the battery and starter are good, but why so much trouble starting and why does it keep dieing?

Answer
This sounds like a Fuel problem! Try changing out your fuel filter and run some gas/injector cleaner from Auto Zone(LUCAS Injector cleaner is the best) with a full tank of 93 octane gas. This may also be a fuel pump problem also! First try changing out the fuel filter..Most jiffy lube or lube places do this! I say you would pay 75-100 dollars at any mechanic shop..Try taking it to jiffy lube first!! Oh one more thing..pumping the gas will make it worse..all your doing is flooding it! Its not like older cars remember its fuel injected meaning NO PUMPING REQUIRED!

Good Luck!
