Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsubishi Diamante Starter Problem, mitsubishi diamante, starter problem

Question
Sir, my 1993 Diamante SOHC will not start.  I replaced the battery (old one was good on Volts and low on amps) only to find out I got no turn on the starter.  I can hear some clicking sound coming from the glove box, but no real turn of the engine.  Can you tell me how to insure it is a bad starter?  What else could be wrong -- fuses all seem to be okay.  Anyway to check relays?

Answer
Jim,
Most local garages can do a quick test of your starter motor without removing it.  They can check to make sure the starter is receiving current from the battery.  It's a bit tough to check the relay, but if you can hear it clicking, there's a good chance it's fine.  But the garage that tests the starter can also determine if the starter relay is functioning properly.  Most starters last roughly 10 years before they need replacing.  Have your starter tested and replaced if necessary.  The colder the weather gets, the more strain will be put on your battery; which will make turning your starter motor even more difficult.

Starters give very little warning before the stop functioning.  It should be tested and replaced before you get stuck some place you'd rather not be.
Good luck!
