Mitsubishi Repair: 98 galant srs, airbag system, srs system

I slid off the road into a snow bank last week and activated the airbags. Question. When replacing the airbags, does the module also have to be replaced? Does the system need to be reset?

When an airbag deploys, the dealership will always insist on replacing every component dealing with the SRS system; usually around $800-$1000.  They do this so the dealersip is not liable if you get into another accident and the airbags to not deploy correctly.  In that respect, it is a good idea to have all modules and sensors replaced after your airbag goes off.  When a new airbag system is installed, the dealership always needs to reset it, otherwise your SRS light will continuously stay on.
