Motorcycle Repair: 2006 Suzuki Boulevard C50

Question
I don't have any electrical experience and because of that, my bike has an electrical problem. I did do some things, even had a guy come over and use a mulitmeter to test parts like the starter relay, also used flat head screw driver on positive side of the battery terminal, it does turn so its not the starter relay, we tried the kick stand relay even bypassing safety switch but that was not it either, looked at the fuses all good, even took the main head light out looked st all the wires all seem clean and attached, even the power button up on the bars.. stumped in Dallas, Texas.. the issue is.. the tail lights, signal lights, emergency lights do work.. what does not work is all up front.. the console does not light up, i have no head lights, power button , horn..

Answer
Hello Robert,

Since you made all these checks, the next thing I would look at, is the main switch and it's harness.
Locate the connector and check if you have power (battery voltage) at the Red wire.
Next, turn the switch on and check for power at the Orange and/or Orange/Red wire(s).

If no power there, first check for cut wires at the switch backplate and harness.
The easy way to do this is by pulling the wires one at a time, from the connector side.

If you're not sure you can proceed by yourself, seek professional help.

As for the test with the screwdriver that you mention, it doesn't prove that the relay is O.K.
It proves that the battery has adequate power and that the starter motor functions properly.

Feel free to get back to me any time, if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,
Lazaros.
