Motorcycle Repair: 79 kawasaki kz400 need help, kawasaki 550 ltd, kawasaki kz400

Hello, i have a 79' kawasaki kz400, the ignition coil crapped out on me and i was wondering if a ignition coil from an 82' kawasaki 550 ltd will work???

Hi Cole,

I believe the coil might work
but if you have contact points
keep an eye on them for burning.
If they seem to be okay then
it should work.

The later coils may be made for
transistorized ignitions and
sometimes have a lower
primary resistance.

If your bike runs okay and the spark
plugs are not turning white colored
then it should be fine.

Any older bike with a double wire
coil would probably work even
Honda or Yamaha, Suzuki.
