Motorcycle Repair: oil leak, hex bolts, rubber gaskets

QUESTION: 2000 1200 custom, started leaking oil at corner of rocker cover on front cylinder. can i remove coil and the 4 hex bolts on top to replace gasket or what do i need to do. thanks for your time and help. ronnie

ANSWER: Yes. Depending on which gasket is leaking. You might hvae to go doen farther. It might be the lower rocker that leaking

QUESTION: i'm sure it is the lower rocker cover. what does that consist of. will i have to loosen the valve springs. thanks ronnie

Between the upper and middle cover are rubber gaskets. Under the bottom one is a regular gasket. You dont have to do anything to the head to replace it. You do, however, have to make sure you bleed the lifters after you are done
