Motorcycle Repair: oil tank level down after sitting, oil tank, tank level

I have a 2002 heritage been sitting for year or two for medical reasons cant ride.i have noticed now when it sits after about two weeks oil tank is bone dry.I start it every week and half just so oil tank refills but sometimes i forget to start it and tank gets empty.Is this hurting it and why does it keep going empty my 2004 oil tank goes down a little after a few months of sitting also thank you

Yoru oil is leaking into the bottom end of the motor. there is a ball and check valve that is suppose to stop it, but its probably leaking out. When you start the bike it pumps the oil back in the tank. It doest hurt anything, justs make it a little harder to start since the flywheels have to turn in all that oil. To stop the problem you would have to remove the check ball and check the seat that it sits on
