Motorcycle Repair: Kickstart conversion for electraglide, clutch cable, kickstart version

Question
QUESTION: Hi Mike, I have a 1978 anniversary glide FLH (1200). I got a kickstart conversion kit and cant find any procedure on how to install it. The bike is currently electric start only, so 2 questions: (A) Is there anywhere on the web that will give me the procedure and (B) will the electric start still work after I install the kickstart kit?

ANSWER: I dont know of anywhere on the web you can find that info. Your best bet is to check with the manufacture and see if they can help you.
On your electric start, yes it still will work after you install the kick starter

QUESTION: Is it possible to tell me what parts to remove? I have the schematic on the current Tranny setup from my shop manual and also a schematic of the kickstart version. The procedure for assembly of the kickstart is there too, but I need to know what parts to remove first.

Answer
The kickstarter fits inside the right trans cover, so you will have to remove it. Make sure you drain the trans. To get it off you will have to remove the exhaust. You will have to loosen the clutch cable so you can get the cable out of the clutch arm.
