Question
QUESTION: i have been working on a 1973 Honda 350 that has been sitting out for awhile. i bought a new battery and filled the gas tank its been two days and it has died twice. we were able to actually ride it today for like an hour or so then it slowly lost power and died. could it be the battery? or does it maybe need an alternator.

ANSWER: when you run it how does it run?
what causes it to die ? is it requiring a battery charge each time and then running ok for a while then dying ?

QUESTION: it runs ok then it seems to be running out of gas i bought a brand new battery and charged all night long then it only run for a good hour or so. i don't think it is the battery itself because it is brand new but i don't know.

Answer
you have a charging system issue, the way you are doing it, charging the battery then riding till it quits, is called total loss.... you are strictly on the battery, it soon loses its charge, motor dies.
Check the charging system...
