Motorcycle Repair: 1993 FXDL, stock cv carb, harley service

Question
QUESTION: I need some advice on rebuilding the carb on my stock FXDL.  I do not know if it is the gas I use or what but the carb clogs up and I have to take it in for a rebuild about every other year.  Short of running it dry everytime I put it away or using Sta-bil in the gas I am at a loss.  I do not have this problem with my vintage Honda's and I do not ride them near as much.  A good diagram or step by step with float levels and such would be fantastic.  It has the stock CV carb.  Whats your favorite metal polish?

ANSWER: You can find the diagrams you need in the harley service manual. What part clogs up? the polish I like is never-dull

QUESTION: I am not sure which part it is. In the past I have taken it in for service when it would not start and paid for a "carb rebuild".  I have cleaned many carbs in the past but never my Harley's so I guess I will search the net for a rebuild kit for the carb, buy a manual and follow their instructions.

Answer
the next time it happens, pull the bowl off the carb and check the intermediate jet. the bowl has a o-ring and you dont really need a rebuild kit, unless you tear the 0-ring. If you do you can just buy a o-ring gasket
Good luck and happy riding
