Motorcycle Repair: timing, bike cranks, fuel filter

how do i go about setting the timing for a honda 1979 cm400t it is running poorly and back fires when i release the throttle and does not have full power runs about 65 is all

hello chris ,

i dont believe that yur timing is off i would clean out all my carbs ,changed the fuel filter and make sure yur braether hose for the carbs are clean,if the bike cranks fine but only has the problems you are describing its in yur fuel system or your carbs.i hope this helps you.im here if you need more help ok.P.s please leave feedback for me.
