Motorcycle Repair: dirt bike handle bar grips, dirt bike, plastic grip

I'm trying to change my grips on my dirt bike. The factory rubber is on there really good. Underneath is a plastic handle bar grip. Does this come off and then you slide you new rubber grip on?

No the plastic grip is part of the throttle.  It's called the throttle tube and the grip goes over it.  If you look at the two grips, you will see one has a larger hole in the center than the other. The larger grip goes on the throttle tube.  I usually take a sharp knife and carefully cut the old ones off taking care not to damage the plastic tube. You should be able to just peal it off then.
