Motorcycle Repair: Honda CR80 4 Stroke, thread repair kits, thread chaser

I have recently acquired a Honda CR80 (80's model). I'm not sure of exact year. I have gotten the dirt bike up and running but the Spark Plug threads are stripped. Do you know or can you recommend how I can find the correct thread specifications for the spark plug threads. I would like to try a thread chaser to see if the threads can be fixed. I believe the threads are 12mm but I do not know the pitch. Thanks for your help.

Tommy, most auto parts stores or machine shops can offer you various thread repair kits.

Looks like the thread pitch is 1.25 for most NGK plugs.

If you can find a specific thread chaser for spark plug holes, try that first. I have found that some regular taps do not match the actual thread pitch/diameter of spark plug threads.
