Motorcycle Repair: 82 Yamaha xs400rj seca twin, air leak, ok check

Sunny in seattle and can't ride because I did a carb. rebuild and now this again is a 82 yamaha xs400rj seca won't idol seams to run ok as long as i hold throttle open a little but if i adjust to much races up and comes down slow.....help??? Mark

Make sure that your throttle is not sticking.If this is ok check for an air leak. Spray carb cleaner around base of carbs were they go into the cylinder head It you get an increase in engine RPM it is likely an air leake.Reseat the carbs an try again.Carb cleaner is VERY combustible use accordantly.
