Motorcycle Repair: 1991 Yamaha Virago 750, yamaha virago 750, battier

Question
I bought a 91 Yamaha virago 750 last summer it was my first bike.  The problem I'm having is its misfiring.  I changed the spark plugs right away after only a few days it happened again.  Some one told me the battier could be shorting out and burning up spark plugs so i bought a new battier and spark plugs and again it the front spark plug went out again.  And i noticed that both spark plugs are coated in fuel and grime.  So I thinking its running rich.  I go to collage and cant afford to put a lot of money in to this bike to take it to a repair shop or guess fixing it ever four days. But I cant afford the gas prices in my truck to be running back and forth to school everyday... So if you know anything that could get my bike running again you'd be a life saver here

Answer
As you are financial embarrassed as we all are,try this first. The thing you turn on the bars for the choke follow the cable down to the carbs and you will see a black cap that the cables go into. Make sure that the cable is firmly seated in the black cap.the chock lever on the bars MUST be compleat off. You may be running with the choke on. Let me know
