Motorcycle Repair: 1976 Honda cb750F1, wheel alignment, flat washers

Question
At 60mph the engine vibrates quite badly..only done 7500miles..everything seems straight and in allignment. Bill any ideas .Thanks

Answer
Brett, Make sure the engine is completely okay first....
Even compression on all 4 cylinders
Clean carburetors, synchronized after ignition timing is verified.

After you are sure that the engine is sound, then look at loose items on the chassis, like brackets for oil tank, air filter and finally the exhaust system.

Loosen all the exhaust bolts, then start from the front, tightening the headers to the cylinder head, then work your way back to rear mounting brackets. If there are any gaps between brackets and the frame or exhaust system, shim the spaces with flat washers, so you don't put the exhaust system in a bind when it is fastened to the chassis.

If the tires are original, change them and have them balanced. Wheels should be true, round and all the spokes checked for correct tension.

Be sure that you don't have any tight spots in the drive chain and that the front and rear wheel alignment is correct.
